Rough job description:

Although the title suggests administration/maintenance work, the real essence of the work is R&D.
While no past programing experience is required, the aim is to develop custom systems based on extensive integration of existing F/OSS tools and packages.

By fine-tuning multiple existing F/OSS projects and their integration into a well defined, documented and heavily tested system, we shorten the development time and result with extremely powerful solutions.

The nature of the F/OSS tools is around Unix-system and Internet services such as commonly used by large ISPs.
Basically - a best-of-bread Wireless ISP in-a-box.

In addition to the R&D work, the job will call for an active, on-going administration of existing and future servers/networks, in India and abroad, including the supervision, guidance and expansion of our in-house IT team of sysadmins.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Years of hands-on experience with administration of GNU/Linux and Linux-based networks and systems. Past employment with an ISP, hosting-facility or IT department of a large enterprise is almost critical.

Strong familiarity with F/OSS tools and their integration.

Mast be very confident with these terms, protocols, servers and environments:
Multilayer IP switching and routing, firewalls (iptables), Policy-routing, DNS management and debugging, SMTP (sendmail, exim), POP/IMAP, HTTP (apache), Squid, Radius, LDAP, VPNs (OpenVPN), etc.

Focus is made on familiarity with NMS and network provisioning systems - the job will require setup of advanced Nagios-based network monitoring systems for very large and complex networks.

Familiarity with tools such as these is important: Nagios, MRTG, RRD, SNMP, Munin/Orca, and similar.

Experience with routing protocols, QoS setups, Embedded-Linux, MS-Windows machines support (Samba, wins) is a plus.

Past work in R&D environments and familiarity with revision control systems (SVN, Trac) is a big plus, as well as some programing experience, using perl, php, Java and SQL is a big plus.
