Summit Workshops

Immediately following the summit, two workshops were held for a period of two weeks. The workshops were aimed at providing participants with the basic technical and organizational knowledge, skills, and tools needed for deploying low-cost wireless networks. Sessions included theoretical presentations and discussions, hands-on labs, and design of prototype wireless networks.

This 10-day workshop provided an introduction to all aspects of building community wireless networks at every level from general planning to fine detail, from technical solutions to human factors. More.

Fundamental Economics for Small Service Operators and Wireless Projects - Participants learnt about calculating costs and profitability of operating a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP). They also learnt to market their services effectively. Various business models and strategies for developing economically sustainable projects were explored.
